Mortgage repayment calculator
Work out your home loan repayments (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) and how much interest you'll pay over the life of the loan, from the rate your lender quoted.
Enter a loan amount and the interest rate your bank quoted you to see your repayments and the total interest over the life of the loan. For example, $650,000 over 30 years at 5% (an example rate) is about $1,609.69 a fortnight.
Pure arithmetic on the numbers you enter. Amounts are in Australian dollars. Free, no ads, and it runs in your browser: what you type isn't sent to us unless you choose to share a result. Spotted a mistake? Let us know. In New Zealand? Use the NZ version.
Questions, answered
- Does paying fortnightly save interest?
- Paying half your monthly repayment every fortnight adds up to 26 payments a year, about one extra monthly repayment, so the loan clears sooner and costs less interest. Choose fortnightly here to see the repayment for the same loan and rate.
- What isn't included?
- Fees, lenders mortgage insurance, offset accounts and rate changes over the loan. It assumes a principal and interest loan at one rate for the whole term, so treat it as a guide and check your lender's figures.
- Is my data stored anywhere?
- No. It all runs in your browser. The only thing that touches our servers is the URL you create with 'Copy share link', which contains just the numbers you entered.
