Bank sync, and the freemium plan

Akahu auto-sync is the big NZ-only feature on the roadmap. Here's where we are, and why bank sync will be freemium when it lands.

Bank auto-sync via Akahu is the big NZ-only feature on the KeaBudget roadmap. Connect your bank once and your transactions land automatically — no more CSV exports, no more manual entry.

This week we kicked it off. The Akahu Personal App tier is free, scoped to a developer's own bank account, and perfect for learning the API and validating the data shape. The product-grade Full App tier — the one we'll wire up for you — is approval-gated and uses usage-based pricing.

The honest bit: Akahu has usage-based pricing. To keep the personal app free forever — that's a promise, not marketing — bank sync is going to be freemium. A generous monthly allowance for free users, and a paid upgrade for power users with lots of transactions. Manual entry and CSV import stay completely free, no limits, no asterisks.

Concrete numbers go up once Akahu confirms pricing. Application's in. More soon.
