Has your power bill gone up? A bill check against last year
Power, internet and insurance compared with the same time last year, with a link to compare plans when one has jumped, and a heads-up in autumn if last winter's power bills were much higher.
Bills creep. The Recurring page now has a Bill check:
- Power and internet: your last three full months against the same months a year earlier.
- Insurance: the last 12 months against the 12 before, however you pay.
When one has gone up by 10% or more, it says so, with a link to compare power plans on Powerswitch or broadband on Broadband Compare.
It compares you with yourself, not a national average: households use power very differently, so your own bills are the fairer measure.
From mid-March, if last winter's power bills were clearly higher than the rest of the year, the dashboard suggests putting the difference aside by 1 June, sized from your own numbers.
