Christmas is 7 weeks away: set it aside each pay
Pick the lumpy bills you pay from a list of common NZ ones, including Christmas, the summer holiday and back to school, and KeaBudget works out what to put aside each pay. The year ahead shows which months the big ones land in.
Christmas, the summer break and back to school all land within about eight weeks, often while workplaces are closed. Spread over the pays before them, they're manageable. Left to January, they're debt.
On your Goals page, under lumpy bills, press Add common NZ bills. Tick the ones you pay:
- Summer: Christmas and gifts, the summer holiday, back to school.
- Vehicle: rego, WOF, car insurance, a service.
- Home: council rates, house and contents insurance, dog registration, winter power.
- Work and the future: the ACC levy if you're self-employed, a KiwiSaver top-up.
Each comes with a rough NZ amount and a next due date. Change both to match your bills, and KeaBudget shows what to put aside each pay. Christmas picked today is due in mid-December, so it asks for what's actually needed before then, not a twelfth of it.
Below your set-asides, the year ahead lays the next 12 months out month by month, and points out the heavy ones.
The amounts are rough averages and every one is yours to change.
