Share your budget with a partner or flatmate
Invite a partner or flatmate to view your budget, read-only. They see your spending, budgets and goals without being able to change anything, and you can remove access any time.
Money is usually shared, but a budget app that only you can see makes that harder than it needs to be. From today you can invite a partner or flatmate to view your budget, read-only.
How it works
- Go to Sharing and enter their email.
- They get an invite and sign in with that email. That's all they need to do: there's no budget to set up on their end, so they land straight on your dashboard, seeing your spending, budgets, pay-cycle tracking and goals.
That's it. They can look, but they can't add, edit or delete anything, and you can remove access any time from the Sharing page. Invites expire after seven days if they're not used.
Built carefully
Because this is money, we built the access controls to be watertight and put the whole thing through a security review before shipping. A few things worth knowing:
- Read-only really means read-only. People you share with have no way to change your data.
- You're always in control. Access only exists while you allow it, and revoking is instant.
- Your bank connections and account numbers are never shared.
This is v1: one owner, one or more viewers. Down the track we may add shared editing for couples who run one budget together. If that's something you want, tell us on the ideas board.
